Resharpening service outside the EU
Important: Shipping from non-EU countries to the EU is unfortunately somewhat more complicated and time-consuming. If you comply with the following points, your shipment will be delivered safely.
1) Select shipping method - accept charges from sender
-
Preferred: DHL Express with "DTP - Duties & Taxes Paid" (charges at your expense).
-
Alternatives: UPS/FedEx with "DDP - Delivered Duty Paid" (charges at your expense).
-
Important: Do not select "Bill to receiver".
2) Declare customs correctly
-
Purpose: "Repair & Return / Resharpening - Return to sender".
-
Attach customs documents on the outside:
-
If sent by post: CN22/CN23 + commercial or pro forma invoice in the outside document pouch.
-
For Express: use paperless trade; if not available, enclose 3 copies of the invoice on the outside.
-
-
HS code (commodity code): Knives usually HS 8211 (e.g. kitchen knives with fixed blade).
-
Value indication: Only indicate realistic value of goods for customs purposes (no "gift/0 €"). We will charge you the sharpening fee separately.
3) Mandatory information on the invoice (example)
-
Description: "Used kitchen knife, steel, HS 8211, re-sharpening/resharpening service, return to sender, no sale".
-
Quantity and weight.
-
Value of goods and currency (CHF/EUR) for customs purposes.
-
Origin (if known).
-
Incoterm: DDP Solingen or "Duties & Taxes Paid by Shipper (DHL DTP)".
4) Packaging & contents
-
Protect the blade securely, pack the knife in shockproof packaging.
-
Enclose in the package: Your contact details and our order/order number (or RMA).
5) What we do not accept
-
Shipments with cash on delivery.
-
Shipments with unpaid customs duties/taxes or with "charges to be paid by recipient".
-
Such shipments will be returned to you or cause delays.
