The Nesmuk JANUS combines Nesmuk's craftsmanship and many years of experience with state-of-the-art materials and manufacturing methods. The special feature of the JANUS collection is the high-quality DLC coating (Diamond-Like-Carbon). This coating technology was developed for the highest stresses and is used in medical technology, aerospace and Formula 1 engines. The unique Nesmuk steel also contains the rare element niobium - the result is extreme sharpness as well as increased durability and edge retention.

Wenge originates from Africa; it is a very striking, hard wood that has a distinctive structure and color: the heartwood is coffee-brown to almost black with distinctive two-tone structural patterns that form a different pattern depending on the direction of cutting. The wood is very heavy (approx. 1,000 kg/m³) and very durable. With large and decorative-looking pores, wenge has been a classic furniture and veneer wood for decades and is often used for elaborate inlay work. Nesmuk only uses hand-picked pieces of excellent quality; each handle is polished to a high gloss by hand.

Each knife is made with the utmost care and precision and is tested several times within the elaborate manufacturing process before it leaves the manufactory. The individual edition number is engraved on the ferrule and each knife is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and limitation.
